how to separate speakers into separate tracks

Post by norma623 » Fri May 19, 2017 9:27 pm

I am new to audacity.
I have an audio recording where my brother is telling a story to a group of us. Unfortunately, there are areas of the recording where some members of the group spoke louder than he.
Is it possible to separate the voices into their own track so we can reduce or possibly eliminate those tracks?

If the group members are speaking on their own and your brother is silent at that time, then you can use Amplify or Envelope Tool to bring the volume of the group members down.
