Hello,
New to the forum. Recently upgraded to 2.1.3.
If you click and select part of the timeline, try to drag over to the beginning of the song WHILE pressing CTRL 123 to change the zoom, this does not work anymore in 2.1.3
In 2.0.6 I could do this. Is this functionality gone now?

Yes, that functionality is gone due to a change in the wxWidgets interface library we use. Most keyboard shortcuts do not work while the mouse button is down. Zoom at the mouse pointer (hold CTRL while scrolling the mouse wheel) does still work while the mouse button is down. So you could zoom and simultaneously change the selection that way.
