Hello, Very newbie here,
My system is Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
I downloaded the Audacity 2.1.3 .zip file
I somehow clicked a button and it created an icon (?) in the middle of the main screen.

- What is it ?
- icon.jpg (2.33 KiB) Viewed 358 times
If I mouse over it a message appears saying "Show scrub ruler"
I'm not hardly advanced enough to use the "scrub ruler"
How do I get rid of that icon ?
Thanks

“The Scrub Ruler is used solely for Scrubbing and Seeking and can be turned off by right-clicking in the Timeline and selecting Disable Scrub Ruler from the dropdown menu.” Have a look at
Timeline
HTH.
Cheers,

That's the "Scrub Toolbar".

You can turn it off (de-select it) in "View menu > Toolbars".

If you don't want or need scrubbing at all - then not only can you remove the Scrub Toolbar you can also hide the Scrub Bar,
The Scrub Bar is the gray bar directly under the Timeline - to hide it just right-click in the Timelin or in the Scrub Ruler and select "Disable Scrub Ruler".
This will give you a liitle more screen real-estate - but more importantly it will stop you inadvertently moving into Scrubbing mode.
See this page in the Manual:
