Hello

,
I have been using Audacity 2.0.2 for a long time but this one has a bug with AAC 5.1 files. When exporting there is no voice on the left channel.
I have just downloaded Audacity 2.1.2 but I can no longer open AAC files and it no longer directly opens mkv to display audio.
It's normal. If yes, why ?
Best Regards

You may need to install a new version of FFmpeg.

I have already put the directory "ffmpeg-win-2.2.2" in the directory audacity but that does not change anything.

Double-click that file to run it and install FFmpeg. The full file name should be
ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe, but the EXE extension may be hidden on your computer.
More information
here.
When you're done there should be a bunch of DLL files in the FFmpeg folder, such as avcodec-55.dll, etc.

Thanks for your help

but it does not work. This is not a .exe for ffmpeg-win-2.2.2 but a Zip that I unpacked and put in the Audacity folder.
Can you confirm that Audacity 2.1.2 opens the AAC files as well as the mkv to display the soundtrack directly because when I try this I get the following message "Fichier.aac is an Advanced Audio Coding File. Audacity cannot open this type of file. You need to convert it to a supported audio format, such as Wav or AIFF"
However, there is no problem with Audacity 2.0.2.
Best regards

Is there a reason you don't want to install FFmpeg using the EXE file?

If you want to do it that way, you must locate then select the file "avformat-55.dll" in Libraries Preferences. Please see these instructions:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_ ... tml#locate.
