I see that you're referring to the "POSTREPLY" button at the bottom of the thread page.
And by the scrolling you refer to the scrollable TOPIC REVIEW area below the POST A REPLY area.

Very nice.
OK, I've got it now too. That would never have occurred to me, given QUOTE normally opens a new message editing window. ;)

I think I will continue to press the QUOTE button to reply, then copy the first
wrote: and paste it as needed in order to cite multiple text strings. Of course I have to type
at the end of each quote.

If I wanted to quote text from lots of different posts, I "might" do it Steve's way.

But selecting text in the editing window (which requires you use the QUOTE button at right) then pressing the "Quote" button above the editing window also works to wrap the selected text in (unattributed) quote tags.
