Local Quick Help and Manual [SOLVED]

Help for Audacity on Windows.

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

How do I download the local Quick Help and Manual.

If you obtained the EXE installer of Audacity 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/, you already have the Manual and Quick Help on your computer. Open them from the "Help" menu top right of Audacity.

If you obtained the ZIP of Audacity, you can download the Manual and Quick Help in one download: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/unzi ... anual.html.

I did that, downloaded the zip file with included help, but when I use the help tab the manual always opens the internet version. Since I'm not always connected, I would prefer to have the manual on my disk drive.

Make sure at Edit > Preferences..., Interface section that "Location of Manual" says "Local". Then the local help will open in your web browser, with an address that starts with "file://" showing you that the browser is reading a file on your computer.

This assumes you have installed the "help" folder extracted from the ZIP file to the folder containing the Audacity application.
