Post by movebetter » Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:59 am

when i import a track and or edit it i want to know the exact length of it. i see 3 counters at the bottom .. the middle one looks like the most likely and i have tried ticking the end and length buttons but neither does anything till the track plays to the end.

This came up before under a very slightly different scenario. "I have about a billion tracks in my production all time shifted and managed. How long is my show?"

I don't think there's an easy way to do that, either.

Ctrl+A to "select all"
then look at the middle numbers in the "Selection Toolbar" http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sele ... olbar.html

If "Length" is enabled, then the middle number shows the length from the start of the selection to the end of the track selection.
If "End" is enabled, then the middle number shows the time at the end of the track selection.
if the selection starts at the beginning of the track (at time = 0) then the middle numbers will show the same whether you have "End" or "Length" enabled, but if the selection starts somewhere else you will see a different result in the middle numbers (one shows the "length" and the other shows the "end time").
