newb question - updating to 2.1.2

Help for Audacity on Windows.

and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

newb question - updating to 2.1.2

Hi all,

Newb here....running Windows 7....uninstall 2.1.1 before updating, or will 2.1.2 smoothly overwrite 2.1.1?

If you want it to retain all your preferences and settings, just install it.

If you want to burn it off, hose it down and start over, say so. The installer will ask you if you want to keep your preferences. Say no.
