Looping Specific Part of Track

Post by coolitic » Wed Oct 07, 2015 11:51 pm

I know how to loop complete tracks, but I am trying to find a way to loop so that it goes back to a certain point (eg: loop back to the 15 second mark) rather than the start of the track.

If you want that as a part of the recording, use the "Repeat" effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/repeat.html

If you want to loop it just so that you can hear it (but not part of the project), then use "Loop Quick Play" in the Timeline: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/timeline.html#tqp

Hmm, I did not mean to loop it by adding redundant tracks.

Based on your response, it seems what I am trying to achieve would be player-specific and not something achievable in audacity.

Perhaps you could try and explain, in more words, exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

I don't want to copy looped parts of the track over and over again. I want the player to go back to a certain interval every time it reaches the end. Copying looped sections is not an efficient method when the player can just loop back to a certain interval.

Hold the shift key down and press the Play button.
See "Loop play": http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... .html#play

Does the player that you are using outside of Audacity do "loop play"?

yes, but winamp goes to the start of the track and I would like it to go to a specific time interval instead.

Audacity does not support loop points in exported files.
Even if it did, I don't think that WinAmp supports loop points in files either (though I could be wrong about that).
