Echo Cancelation

Post by BRose » Fri Jul 17, 2015 1:14 am

I am running Windows 7, Audacity Ver 2.0.3. I have an audacity project with an echo effect at the end of the file. I have not been able to remove the echo effect. Any ideas?

Can you shoot it again?

#1.

The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show)
-- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't record the show in your mum's kitchen.)
-- 2. Overload and Clipping (Sound that's recorded too loud is permanently trashed.)
-- 3. Compression Damage (Never do production in MP3.)
-- 4. Background Sound (Don't leave the TV on in the next room.)

If there is only one echo effect at the very end of the last word, you might be able to slice it off with zooming and careful editing. If it's between two or more words, it doesn't look good.

Unfortunately I placed the echo effect over the last phrase. It is not from external noises. I have not been able to cancel the echo through the effects menu and I apparently deleted the mother .wav file. Looks like I'm SOL.

Surely Out of Luck. Yes. We warn people when they post samples for us to review or assist, not to supply patched or filtered works. We can't take out most of the filters.

We also warn people never save corrected sound files the same name as the originals. The first production mistake you make anywhere and you could lose the corrected and the original work. You should never have to reshoot anything. Just go back to the live shoot original masters.

I still have original shoot sound files from a couple of years ago. "Hey, Koz. Do you still have the sound files from Mark's voice shoot?"

"Of course."
