Are you using a USB turntable?
Are you using the current 2.1.0 version of Audacity? (look in "Audacity from Help > About Audacity" for the exact version number)
Which version of Windows are you using?

If it's a USB turntable, set Windows back to use your speakers or headphones, or simply disconnect the turntable. See Why have I lost sound after connecting a USB device on Windows?.

If you want to hear the LP while recording, enable Transport > Software Playthrough in the Audacity menu at the top of the screen.

If you want to hear the LP without recording, click on the Audacity recording meter as well as enabling software playthrough.
