Downloaded latest patch for Audacity, and it is stuck on the loading screen longer than usual. Any advice? Thanks!

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

Don't use alpha builds unless you follow the code commit changes and you know what you are doing and understand the risks.
If you have added effects plugins, that could be the problem. Install or reinstall Audacity 2.1.0 from the link above, then enable the box "Reset Preferences" half way through the installation process. Say yes when Audacity asks you to confirm reset of Preferences, then uncheck the newly added effects in the Register Effects dialogue then OK.
