record sounds on computer

record sounds on computer

I want to record sounds on my computer and its only recording using the microphone so its recording the sound of the tv instead of the sounds on my computer.

I have audacity 2.0.3
windows 8.1
Probably the zip installer

my audacity settings for recording are windows directsound and primary sound capture driver and stereo input.

please help

Self-recording is not "natural" and special pathways or drivers are needed.

Audacity 2.0.3 is a bit old. The current version is 2.1.0 (available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/)
