I have tried repeatedly to install Audacity 2.0.6 from the audacity.sourceforge.net website on my Windows XP machine. I have followed all instructions explicitly. I manage to successfully go through the entire installation wizard, but at the very end when I click "Finish", I get an error message that reads:
C:Program FilesAudacityaudactiy.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Needless to say, "reinstalling the application" has not fixed the problem, despite trying it 10 times.
Can anyone help me with this?

and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
