hello again. I tried to save a test project, and I named it, but I don't see it when I try to open. in my mind I m expecting to see the track with the waveform displayed so it can be edited. at one point it told me the project wasn't saved properly, but that it was recoverable, which it was, but I still don't see it when I try to open. just don't know what I m doing wrong when I save.

Are you definitely using Audacity 2.0.6? (look in "Help > About Audacity" for the version number).
Starting from - the recording is in progress - what is the exact sequence mouse/keyboard actions that you are using to save the project? (every detail is important because we can't see what you are doing).

yes when I open audacity it shows clearly that it's the 2.0.6 version. I just ran another test recording and tried to save it. my exact key/mic clicks were
file, save project, in the "look in" box I chose desktop, then in name file box I named it. this time it did save it to my desk top. both files, the named file and the data file.also when I open the file audacity opens with the wave form in it, ready to edit, so I 'll continue to experiment and see how it goes. thanks again

That could be it. Did you give it a
valid file name the first time? Windows is quite fussy about file names and the rules are quite complex, but the simple version is to use only the characters:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz-_ ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789
Avoid using any punctuation or any other sort of special characters in file names. The characters that commonly catch people out are "dot" and "back-slash". Best to stick with the above "safe" characters.

hi i just edited the test tract and played it and then saved it again. i've been saving it to my desktop. played it, even put it on a cd and
played it. ( sounds great ). my question is does it also get saved in audacity? because i don't find it in the dialog box when i try to open it. also can i make a new folder and save, as long as i keep both( wav and data ) in the same folder? because over time i don't want everything saved ro my desktop.
