How can I stop Audacity from adding new set of tracks when I

How can I stop Audacity from adding new set of tracks when I

Every time I end a recording or pause a recording and restart it, Audacity adds another set of tracks. I would like it to continue recording on the initial set of tracks.

Hold SHIFT and click on the Record button or press SHIFT + R. This records starting from the end of the selected track(s).
