Latency correction

Post by Latency Correction » Tue Feb 03, 2015 3:01 pm

Hello everyone,

Every time I try to record sound with my microphone, I get this message:

''Latency Corretion setting has caused the recorded audio to be hidden before zero. Audacity has brought it back to the start at zero.
You may have to use the Time Shift Tool (<---> or f5) to drag the track to the right place''

I really have no idea what to do. When I record, I don't see anything happening in the recording level. Does anyone know what's going on? This is the first time I'm using audicaty for recording sound

The recording is stalling. Please provide the information requested in the pink panel at the top of the page.

What is the make and model number of the microphone and how is it connected to the computer? If it is connected through an external interface, what is the make and model number of the interface?

Have you tried opening Device Toolbar (shown inside the red border below):
[windevtool][/windevtool]
and selecting the particular input you are trying to record?

Quit Audacity.

Get Snowball recognised by the computer. To see how to do that, click this link in blue: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... l#flatline and look in the box "Detecting USB and Firewire devices".

When Windows recognises Snowball, start Audacity again. Then select the Snowball in Device Toolbar by the mic symbol.

If you need more help, please provide the information requested in the pink panel at the top of the page. We will keep nagging you until you do, so you may just as well do it now. ;)

But, if I'm correct, Blue Snowball is already getting recognised. Here's a picture

So from that screenshot I think you on Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. Which is it?

There are a few things you can try.

Is your Snowball below Serial Number 76-065000? If so, it is not compatible with Vista or later.

Try restarting the computer. On Windows 8 or 8.1, restart using the Windows key + X menu.

If that does not help, open Edit > Preferences... in Audacity then look in "Recording" on the left. In that "Recording" section, make sure that "Audio to buffer" is set to 100 milliseconds or higher.

You could also try another USB cable.
