HELP!! File disapeared only file .aup.bak left

Post by Clouloune » Thu Jan 29, 2015 12:22 pm

Hello,

I have Windows 8 and I've been working on a project with audacity for four days. I saved it a few times. Last time I tried to save it, it completely shut down and now, when I look for the file, all I can find is the file .aup.bak which audacity refuses to open. I don't know what to do. It's really important for me to get this file back. Please. I need your help.

Audacity has not saved AUP.BAK files since obsolete 1.2/1.3 versions. Make sure you have 2.0.6 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows. What version did you last save the project in?

Audacity 2.x versions won't open AUP.BAK. An older 1.2 or 1.3 version that created the AUP.BAK might open it, but there would likely be file errors, leading to missing audio or audio in the wrong place.

There is no way to recover the data from edited projects without the AUP file, except to import the AU files into the project and rearrange them.
