Installation Problem [SOLVED]

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

Installation Problem [SOLVED]
I attempted multiple times to install Audacity, and nothing happened at all. I tried to double-click on the downloaded exe file. Nothing. I have windows 8.1.

I tried with versions 2.0, 2.2 and 2.6.

We don't make Audacity with those version numbers. Audacity versions have 3 digits. The current version is 2.0.6 which you can get from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows If you got it from somewhere else it may not be genuine Audacity.
The recommended version is the "Audacity 2.0.6 installer (.exe file, 22.9 MB, including help files) for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8" at the top of that page.

Yes, I apologize for leaving out the middle digit. The version I tried were 2.0, 2.0.2, and 2.0.6. Yet nothing worked. Please help.

You need to download from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows. Click the text links. If your mouse is flaky, try right-click over "audacity-win-2.0.6.exe", and click "Open". If you are not logged in as an administrator, right-click and choose "Run as administrator".
