Recording Problems

Help for Audacity on Windows.

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Recording Problems

So I am new to Audacity and am having some issues. My microphone is not being picked up by the program. It was picked up once and I was able to make one recording but then it stopped and now wont pick up any sound. Audacity says that the microphone is usable and is monitoring something that is not my microphone. It is really frustrating and would like some help asap. Thankyou.

That's a little too fuzzy. USB microphone? What kind? Laptop? Which Windows? Fill in the questions in the pink band above.

Are you selecting the microphone in Device Toolbar?
