Hi all,
1st post on the forums so apologize if this isn't the right forum/subforum.
I'm using a Logitec C270 webcam which has a built in microphone.
I also use a Yamaha acoustic Nylong string guitar.
Audacity is 2.0.3
I'm trying to record some chord patterns and then build leads/solos on it.
ISSUE: when i try to record a strum pattern and then let it play, the chords do not ring. They simply damp away.
The result is like listening to something through a narrow pipe.
Its a little tough to explain.
Has anyone had this problem or knows how to overcome the same.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sid

1) Don't expect to get good audio quality from a web-cam microphone.
2) Ensure that all recording "Enhancements" (such as "noise reduction, echo cancellation and so on) are switched off. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... hancements

Thanks Steve.
All enhancements are off... Checked it after reading on one of the other threads here.
Thing is it was working fine a couple of days ago.
The muffled pipe effect has just recently begun.

Did you recently install Skype or other communications software? You have classic symptoms of conferencing environment suppression.
The software tries to recognize your speaking voice and it thinks all sustained notes, music, or other sound is air conditioning, traffic or fan noise and it tries to get rid of it as soon as possible. If you sing a long note, it will probably try to get rid of that as well.
Windows has a version of that software built-in, but other software programs can have it, too. So it's almost 100% we know what it is, the task is to figure out where it's coming from.

You can have Skype installed, you just can't leave it running. Skype is pretty vicious about the way it manages sound services.
