Application Configuration incorrect code 14001 [SOLVED]

Post by coolmanhuber » Mon May 05, 2014 1:23 am

My OS is Windows XP. I have downloaded Audacity 2.0.5 (audacity-win-2.0.5.exe) from the official Audacity site. When I try to run the program, I get the following error:

"Unable to execute file: C:Program FilesAudacityaudacity.exe.
CreateProcess failed; code 14001
This application has failed to start because the application configuration
is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I have never seen this error message before. Reinstalling the application failed to eliminate the problem.
I have installed version 2.0.5 in the past with no problems.

Please see this FAQ:
Windows: How can I fix "Application configuration incorrect" when first launching Audacity after installation?

Also note that Windows XP is obsolete and will remain vulnerable to new exploits and is particularly vulnerable if connected to the Internet.
