XP Sp3 - Latest 2.0.6-alpha-20-apr-14 - Never start...

Hi... i'm new here, i also using more problems like this..... but Audacity it's pretty, faster and........FREE.

I can use the last stable on my PC whit XP Sp3............ i also try to lauch the last naightly version but never started, i can only watch the LOGO apears but never appening, at this point i can only force by TaskManager and kill the process "audacity.exe"

There is a mode to obain a log or similar things for report here ?

Thanks for the report.

Have you added VST plug-ins since the problem started? Or added an external audio device?

Have you tried resetting audacity.cfg to

NewPrefsInitialized=1

Microsoft have made an exception and are offering a patch to XP users for the latest Internet Explorer vulnerability. Make sure you install the patch using Windows Update.

No.... it's first time i extract the .zip of latest nightly... and it's never started but the last stable working whitout problems.

Late Tonight i turn on my pc with XP and i can try to add this value on CFG... i report result here.

If the alpha build still won't start on an initialised audacity.cfg, then without changing any audio devices, launch 2.0.5 release and post the information from Help > Show Log... and Help > Audio Device Info... .

Ok... i'm goin to watch the .cfg.

In the first line it's present this:

For resetting this i need to set NewPrefs to 0 ??

Otherwise i have a similar EXTERNAL AUDIO CARDS... i have installed on pc a BEHRINGER BCD3000 whit asio support....... it's not a real external audio cards but it's support the DIRECT AUDIO.

Try to Starts the latest stable and post here the log you suggested....

No. To reset the Audacity preferences you need to delete the entire contents of the audacity.cfg file except for the one line:

NewPrefsInitialized=1
That one line should be exactly as Gale stated.

ok...... i try to reset this file........... and retry to restart the latest beta:

After double-click on .exe i obtain the message to association of file....... i click ok...... and after that nothig append, i continue to see the logo "Audacity" over my desktop but the main programs never appears :)
