imported file invisible [SOLVED]

Post by Shio » Wed Apr 16, 2014 3:19 pm

I am a novice user on Windows 7...
I used to drag an mp3 into Audacity 1.3x beta to edit just fine until a week ago. I don't know what happened, but now when I do that or even when I open a track with Audacity, the title is there on the left, but the soundwaves simply do not appear and there is no sound when I click 'play'. I thought maybe I needed to update, but I am having the same issue with 2.5.
Please help! TX

Try Edit > Preferences, choose Directories on the left. Choose a temporary folder that you have permission to write to, on a functional drive that has sufficient disk space.

WOW, at first I got a warning that said 'not writable', so I changed to a temp folder on my desktop and it worked. Thank you!!!
