Re: MP3?
I moved this to the correct Windows board for you.
Make sure you follow everything at http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... .html#lame .
If Audacity asks for the location of LAME, you should see a dialogue that looks something like this:

What you have to do in that dialogue is press "Browse..." then select and open the lame_enc.dll file you installed.

Re: MP3?
If you are not editing and you just need to convert files, try TAudioConverter (FREE, Open Source)....or do I have to continue to send my MP2 files out to be converted?
I'm not 100% sure you can feed-in an MP2, but TAudioConverter converts between many formats and it can make MP3s. Once you set-up your output-format, it's just drag & drop, & click.
Re: MP3?
OK, I updated to 2.0.5 from 2.0.0 and believe I did the LAME installation. The problem is that it stopped at ReaPlayer screen of "interesting" videos (IE: Lame videos). Is the the end of the installation? I close the screen and I get a message that RealPlayer has stopped working. After guessing to close all sorts of associated screens, I get something that claims that Zip Opener is waiting with a "Next "Button. Why is this hidden in back? I click ?Next? and I get a screen that asked abut Weather bug. What does this have to do with anything? I already clicked to not install the desktop icon.
Is there any more krap that is going to try to sneak into my system. Oop there it is, it wants me to have MyPCBackup. More lame actions. There is a lot of stuff that ia faked these days. It is now asking me to scan for driver updates....
All I want is to use MP3. Is this how Audacity wants to be remembered?
I realize it is free but why cannot all this be honest enough to list what is going to happen before running all this?
It is good that I am running this on a test and very separated system from my main computer.
I now believe that none of this is worth all this.
Is it too much to ask for some honesty?

Are you talking about installing Audacity or installing LAME?Emerogork wrote:OK, I updated to 2.0.5 from 2.0.0 and believe I did the LAME installation. You need to download Audacity from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Do not download from any other site.
Click the text link that says "Audacity 2.0.5 installer (.exe). Do not click on download buttons because they are advertisements for other products that may damage your computer.
Similarly on http://lame.buanzo.org/#lamewindl , clink the text link that says "Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe". Do not click on download buttons because they are advertisements for other products that may damage your computer.
The buanzo site is not controlled by Audacity. If you believe the site is deceptive, please inform the site owner of your opinion at the address given.
Similarly on http://sourceforge.net/projects/taudioconverter/ , do not click on download buttons for anything else than TAudio Converter.
Most sites are like this nowadays, with Google or other search engine advertisements offering crapware and malware. These ads fund the server and bandwidth costs of the site. You need to be very alert.

Re: MP3?
I guess I missed the note that a reply was posted.
I will be looking into trying this again later this weekend.
I upgraded to 2.0.5 but I guess the answer to my question was to install Lame. I tried and will try again.Gale Andrews wrote:Are you talking about installing Audacity or installing LAME?]
I am careful and used only the links supplied here.Gale Andrews wrote: "You need to download Audacity from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Do not download from any other site.
I guess I need to be reminded of this. I fell victim the Download "option" this time. Slap me for that.Gale Andrews wrote:Click the text link that says "Audacity 2.0.5 installer (.exe).
