Can't open Audacity

Help for Audacity on Windows.

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Can't open Audacity

Im running window 7 64 bit and when i try to open Audacity it pulls up an error that says "the application was unable to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" how can i fix this?

Which version of Audacity? See the pink panel at the top of this page.

If you don't already have 2.0.5, please download it here:
http://audacityteam.org/download/windows .

If the problem persists in 2.0.5, please try installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=2092 .
