Like the Pitch Shift tool that causes some audio drift, GSnap unacceptably stretches the audio, requiring correction of the timing in the waveform after applying the effect. I can live with this defect as it's correctable but wonder if there is some other pitch correction tool plugin for Audacity that does not mess up the timing. Another freeware option would be nice.

For automatic pitch correction (like AutoTune) you will probably need to spend money. There are a couple of free ones (such as GSnap and AutoTalent) but they're a bit limited.

Note that neither Auto-Tune nor Melodyne officially support Audacity, so you might also have to spend money on a host application.

Thanks... that helped me a lot. I'll try AutoTalent. If that renders an unprofessional sound, I'll just have to spend some $.

In addition to causing audio drift, GSnap adds a phaser-like tone to a human voice that might be OK for hard rock, but it's unacceptable in ballads and most pop (juz my 'pinion).

Used in Audacity, GSnap inserts 10 milliseconds of silent audio at the start of the processed selection, and 10 milliseconds of the selection are removed at the end. This is an Audacity limitation because it does not compensate for plug-ins that buffer audio in order to provide "look ahead".
