Constant high pitched noise

Hello, I'm trying to remove some noise from some video I made.

I've tried the high pass, low pass filter, notch removal, the equalizer. I've tried copying some other nyquist scripts, but I have no idea what I am doing.

The noise is constant, and I don't really know what frequency is the problem.

That's not what I thought it was going to be. I think you are recording the computer cooling fan. Make a recording with nothing else going on in the room in order to get pure noise mixed with nothing else. Then follow the Noise Removal instructions.

I tried recreating the noise, once inside, once outside, but I don't hear it in new recordings.

It's created by the camera I'm recording with, and...I don't know why it's not consistent. At least it's way more minor in the new samples. Maybe it's louder depending on the noise of what is being recorded.

I tried doing it anyway with just ambient noise, and it just seemed to make everything quieter, but didn't remove the noise. I think I may just have to keep it

Smaller cameras have automatic gain control. They sense the environment and performance and try to automatically set their own volume controls as needed. Most of the time it sounds OK, but you can get recordings that "breathe" and pump as the gain goes up and down.

Many of them are biased toward "stand-uppers," people stand in front of a camera and talk. If you were using yours for extended landscape shots, the camera would have gone looking for sound by cranking the volume up as far as it would go. You could be listening to the power management inside the camera, anything that normally would not be a problem.

Does the camera use tape? You could be listening to the motors.

It's digital. Plus it's a camera, which just makes small 30 second movies, so it's not designed for this.
