I have a Dell XPS 430 desktop PC. 64 bit . Using Windows Vista home premium. Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz 6 GB RAM.
I have installed audacity a number of times. When I try and open the program my computer freezes. I install, check the reset prefrences box and do that, then when the VST plug ins thing pops up I uncheck all the boxes and/or hit cancel. It still freezes everytime.
I think it might be my audio drivers. How can I get it to work without freezing. Where/how can I get the right audio driver if thats the problem.

Just a reminder to make sure you have Audacity 2.0.5 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Audacity 2.0.4 added support for WDM-KS which could cause a computer crash or freeze with some audio devices. Updating drivers will probably not help if you have 2.0.4.
2.0.5 does not support WDM-KS.
