recording my voice on existing karaoke track?

Post by BenKenn » Thu Jan 23, 2014 11:50 pm

I'm new to Audacity ... hoping to get help with how to record my voice onto an existing karaoke track. I already imported the track that I want into an Audacity Project ... but when I try to open a "new track" to record my voice (on separate track) ... that option is greyed out and I can't do it.

Is there some other way to do this?

thanks for your help!!

Yes. You can set up your computer for Overdubbing/Sound-On-Sound.

If everything goes OK, the computer will play the original karaoke into your headphones and record your voice track beside the karaoke track. You can mix it into one song using any of the Audacity filters and effects.
