Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

Trying to make a podcast
Is it possible to import multiple sound files back to back and not have them overlapping each other during playback?

That's what the Time Shift Tool does (two sideways black arrows). Shift song two so it starts after song one finishes. Repeat with three, four, etc.

Import your sounds and your speech segments (after installing the below mentioned plug-in) , order them from top to bottom and try this tool:
