Sound levels

My sound levels are too high in places and a bit low in others. Any quick and easy way I can make my sound levels a bit more consistent throughout?

There is a Leveler effect that might help. You can also try some dynamic compression (Compressor effect). Or, there is an Envelope Tool that allows you to adjust & fade-up & down the volume in different parts of your file.

There is also "Chris's Dynamic Compressor" plug-in. It's a lot better sound quality than "Leveller" and probably easier to use than the Audacity compressor effect - just set the "Ratio" to about 0.7 and leave the other controls at their default settings. You can get it here:
