My prime aim is to transfer all of my Vinyls onto CD.A simple task,so I thought.I have a mbeat (brand) USB Turntable recorder.
I have tried to follow the instructions offered on Downloading Audacity but am having absolutely no success in recording or having anything to play back.
I am becoming frustrated at my lack of success.

Re: Confused
This stuff can get frustrating....
I would guess that you need to switch the input/recording from your regular soundcard to the USB turntable. This page may help.
Can you hear the turntable through your computer? Windows has separate recording & playback "mixers", so you don't always hear exactly what you're recording, but it's sometimes helpful to know if anything is working at all...
With a USB turntable, the digital signal input bypasses your saoundcard an goes to th databus & harddrive. The output (monitoring & playback) comes out of your soundcard as usual.
P.S.
After you get it working... If you're interested in "cleaning up" the digitized recording to remove the vinyl "snap", "crackle", and "pop", this page has a TON of information and several sofware recommendations. (Audacity includes a Click Removal filter you can try too.) I use a program called Wave Repair ($30 USD) in the "manual mode" and it does an amazing job of removing most clicks & pops, and it doesn't touch the audio except where you identify a defect. But, it usually takes me a full-weekend to fix-up an LP recording. There are more-automated applications.
