Wave Forms Disappear/No Sound

I used an older version of Audacity (with no problems) while running XP on my old computer. Just downloaded 2.0.2 on a new machine w/ Windows 7. As I attempt to record from my mic, the waveforms begin to appear as expected. But then, as I continue, the older waveforms disappear – everything but the last 2-3 inches. And when I hit the STOP button, all waveforms disappear, and there is no sound on playback. What am I doing wrong?

Try resetting the Audacity Preferences.
The easiest way to do that is to run the installer again and when you see the option to reset preferences, select it, then follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.

Thanks. That did the trick. (i don’t have a clue why this worked, but I am not one to argue with success.)

I suspect that the location of the Audacity temp folder was invalid.
