When recording from stereo mix, one channel is lower level and has a weird beginning waveform - see image.
All balance controls on Realtek HD audio manager and windows mixer is middle.

i7 processor with 32g RAM

Correct the audio drivers, replace the motherboard or use an external sound card. See Missing features - Audacity Support .

Drivers are all currently the latest version.
Any other ideas besides replacing the new motherboard?
Gale’s other suggestion was to use a external (USB) sound card.
Solution to this was to switch the speaker connection to the front audio out port.
Then a popup in Windows asked me to select that input.
Now the levels are matched.
Best I can tell is that the rear audio out port on this MB has a hardware problem.
