I recorded some lyrics of a friend in Audacity and I saved it with the name "Jimmy Reshiram" and then I did some modifications with plug-ins then saved it with the name "Jimmy Reshiram Distorted" but instead it overwrites the "Jimmy Reshiram" file WITHOUT ASKING ME to overwrite and now I do not have the original anymore!!! PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE WITH SAVING IN AUDACITY!!! (2.0.2)

You used File > Save As or FIle > Save? If I use File > Save As and pick the original filename, then I will get an overwrite.

Audacity Projects have two parts: the AUP project manager file and the _DATA folder with the sound snippets in it. Did you lose both?

If you "Save Project As" with a new name, the project window then displays the project name you just "saved as". The project window displaying the project as previously named is closed, but can be reopened as required (look in the File > Recent Files menu). Is this what you mean? If so, I find this behaviour confusing too and think the original project should remain open.

If you mean something else please tell us exactly 1, 2, 3 ... what you did (exact commands as named in the program menu, or whatever else you did). We can't fix anything unless we know that.

The only safe way to rename projects is with File > Save Project As. See http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/File_ ... nd_folders .

If you want to progress this, please read what we said:

Please explain to us 1, 2, 3 ... how we can reproduce this problem so we can fix it. Exact commands, exact names and folder locations for the original project and the one you saved as.

Please tell us how many project windows you had open before you did the project save as, and the names of all those projects.

If you think there is a bug here then I suggest you export a WAV file before saving as a new project.

Also have you tried Edit > Undo if these projects are still open?
