Can't export file as WAV, it alwasy goes to a data file

I have tried several times to exeprt files as a WAV file, but while everything seems to say it is being exported as a WAV it always ends up as a data file, which after I burn to a CD won’t play on standard CD players. What gives?

All WAV files are data files. CD burning programs have an option where you specify Music or Data.

You need to look at the settings in your CD burning program. If “data disk” is selected in the CD burning program then WAV files will be stored on the CD as data files. If “audio disk” is selected in the CD burning program then WAV files will be stored on the CD as audio.
