Editing a recording

Post by Soundman1600 » Tue Aug 21, 2012 3:44 pm

I use Audacity to record speechs. They are fairly long and sometimes have quite a bit of silence between words. I use the silence finder to mark these and the highlight them and hit delete. I was wondering if there is a way to delete them all at once instead of individually.

This may be the effect that you're looking for: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... lence.html
Read what the manual says carefully and have a practice on some test tracks before using it for real - this effect is not very intuitive (but we're working to improve it).

It looks as if the URL to the Truncate Silence topic has changed: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... lence.html.

Yes. I've updated the link in the old (2012) post.
