Well, I am a newbie on here but I have used the earlier version of Audacity on other computers. My problem is that I am able to record & listen to recordings through Audacity BUT when I try to use other programs (ex. Windows Media Player) to listen to stuff I had previously, the volume on the computer registers but I am not getting any actual sound out of the system.

I have set the preferences for recording to Overdub and software playthrough. As far as the devices settings, I have tried both MME and Windows Direct Sound with each of the playback device options: Speakers (USB Audio Controller), Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output, Realtek Digital Output (Realtek , and Speakers (Realtek High Definition. It has become a bit frustrating. Any input would be appreciated. :)
