OK, thanks for letting us know.
Can you do your next two tests with "audacity_bug_557_revert_11858p1.exe" ? I expect that will probably crash at the end, but let's see.

Gale:
I did one test last night with audacity_bug_557_revert_11858p1.exe and there were no issues. It completed successfully and the quality was fine. I'll try to do another one or two this evening.

Clayton has made a fix "bug_557_p4" that retains the fixes in "bug_557p3" for the crash at end of processing, but attempts to fix the new crash at the start. Could you download that and try it:
http://gaclrecords.org.uk/bugs/audacity_bug_557_p4.zip ?
If it crashes, then please tell us where in the processing it crashes, and continue testing with "audacity_bug_557_revert_11858p1.exe" (which I understand has completed once without quality issues).
Thanks again,
Gale

I just did another test with audacity_bug_557_revert_11858p1.exe and it did not crash.
I will try bug_557_p4 when I have the time, either today or tomorrow.

I did eight sliding time scale/pitch shift tests this morning with bug_557_p4.
None of them crashed and there were no quality issues. Good News!

I'll continue to use bug_557_p4.exe for sliding time scale/pitch shift only and my regular 2.0.1 executable for everything else.
Please keep me informed as to when bug_557_p4 will be incorporated into a future audacity release.
Thanks.

We are at rc4 for 2.0.2 - see
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 46&t=67279 . 2.0.2 rc4 includes the "bug_557_p4" Time Scale fix. We aim to release rc4 as 2.0.2 in a couple of days if no major problems are reported with it.

Hi Gale:
I installed 2.0.2 today and did one sliding time scale/pitch shift test. It was fine. No crashes or quality issues. Will do some more testing over the weekend and report here. I do not expect any problems.

Hi everyone:
I did another four sliding time scale/pitch shift tests yesterday with 2.0.2 and, again, there were no crashes or quality issues.
Thanks for all your excellent support to finally get this issue resolved for Windows XP.
So I added "Solved" to the title of this thread.
