Re: Error on sliding time scale/pitch shift
Windows XP is still the most widely used operating system so far in 2012. In fact, 46.08% of all desktops worldwide are windows XP. When the time comes that MS ends its support of XP, then I will have no choice but to purchase a new desktop with windows 7. It will just be a pain to re-install all my apps. Some of the licenses might be transferrable, but some may have to be re-purchased.
Anyway, it is obvious that XP is not completely compatible with the latest audicity 2.0.1 release in regard to Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift. Please do not try to determine a fix for this. It is not worth all your valuable time. I can either use audacity 2.0.0 or purchase another software (Song Surgeon) for changing the tempo without changing the pitch.
Thanks everyone.

Re: Error on sliding time scale/pitch shift
I have been away from computers for a while. Sorry the last patch did not resolve the problem.
I believe I found the remaining problem, (it is a corollary of the issue I fixed). I would like to test it for a day or so before submitting the patch.

@mdubin, to test, download the updated http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/bugs/audacity_bug_557.zip, unzip the enclosed "audacity_bug_557.exe", copy it, then paste it into the installation folder for either 2.0.0 or 2.0.1. Then exit any versions of Audacity you are running and launch "audacity_bug_557.exe" from the installation folder.
Thanks for your help.

Will do this evening and report my findings. Hopefully, the XP crash will not happen.

I did four sliding time scale/pitch shift processes just now and none of them crashed. I'll continue testing all week and report back here.

Did another four sliding time scale/pitch shift processes yesterday and, again, none of them crashed. That's eight successes so far with audacity_bug_557.exe. Will rip some more wav files tonight or tomorrow and continue testing for a few more days.

Re: Error on sliding time scale/pitch shift
Thanks. We've already declared the code freeze for the upcoming 2.0.2 release, so Clayton's fix probably won't get into 2.0.2 unless we make more changes to the code for other reasons. But if you let us know within 36 hours or so it might increase the chances the fix would go into 2.0.2. The "audacity_bug_557.exe" is otherwise very similar to the code planned for release in 2.0.2.
