1 millisecond delay
For work on directional microphones, I want to use Audacity, if possible, to delay a signal (maybe live or recorded ) by about 1 millisecond. I can't see explicitly in the manual whether this is possible or not. Please help.

No. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. You need either purpose-built software or one of the larger audio programs. I know you can do this in ProTools. Koz

To move a recorded track exactly 1 msec:
- Click the skip to start button
- Zoom in so you can see several milliseconds at the start of the track
- In the selection toolbar http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Selection_Toolbar
-- set the time resolution (using one of the dropdown menus beside the number areas) to hh:mm:ss + milliseconds
-- set the selection start time to 00h00m00.001s: the cursor will move to the 1 millisecond mark
- Choose Tracks > Add Label at Selection
- name the label
- using the Time Shift tool http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tools_Toolbar drag the track until the start of the track lines up with the label - you will get a yellow snap line when this occurs.

I did really want a real-time solution. It is possible to use recorded tracks but not easy. Thanks anyway.
