Hey All...

I'm just becoming familiar with Audacity's editing ability and need some help editing a phone interview. I've included a clip from the file and want to know if there's a way to minimize the crackling/scratchy sound on the audio of the caller...it's happened throughout the interview. Any ideas/advice??

That's peak overloading on the cellphone (or wireless phone) system. Ordinarily, that would kill your interview, there is one tool that might help, the De-Esser.

@Moderator...I profusely apologize for the double posting...I was having trouble with my browser and thought the question never posted.
Moderator note: that's ok - unfortunately we got a lot of spam and trolls who try to post on the forum (most of it commercial but some unpleasant and some downright dangerous with potential trojan links) so we combat this by moderating the posts of new forum members. How are you recording it? (please be expansive and detailed - too much information is better than not enough).

I'm using INNkeeper PBX, an Alesis Multimix 8USB mixer & a shure sm58 mic. I ask the callers to use a landline. And, of course, audacity.

Adjust the levels on the INNkeeper to get as clear a recording as possible.

The only controls on the Innkeeper are 'send' and 'caller'...is that what you're referring to? (pardon the newbie questions)
