AC-3 5.1 channel mapping

Post by Mach10 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:28 pm

Hi there ... my question is about the opening a AC-3 6 channel ac-3 audio file.

I extracted an ... .ac3 ... file from a AVI video and I want to enhance the Left surround channel.

When I load the avi video into ... TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 ... it shows the Left Surround is weak compared to the Right Surround.

I see heavy activity in the top 3 channels ... Front ... Left and Right ... and Center ... but ... starting from the Top channel ... which is Front Left ... Front Right and the Center ... all three ... look the same ... by looking at them ... I cannot tell ...

As for SL and SR and the LFE channels .... because the Left surround is weak ... I can figure that out ... the Right Surround is larger [as a way of saying it]

LFE is easy ... has bass and only bass. And that channel is ... 5 ... So without opening up Audacity again ... 4 and 6 ... are the surround channels.

My question is ... Audacity version 2.0 ... Channels ... 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... >>> which ones are Front Left and Front Right and Center

Thank you
