Display sound as graphics

Hi folks,

I use audacity for surveillance and record tracks with about 8 hours length. My neighbor is making noise and I want to secure evidence. Most of the time is quiet, but I need to quickly scroll to the parts where noise has been recorded. Then I want to copy these snippets into own files without changing the original. In the movies they have a graphical display of the whole track where they scroll to the interesting parts of the recording. It looks like your logo. How can I do that with audacity?

Thanks

I use windows 7 SP1 and installed audacity from the .exe

The Audacity waveform is that graphical display - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/man ... eform.html

You just need to learn to use the zoom tools so that see nore of the waveform than the default setting shows.
