Saving Undocked and resized toolbars

Post by bex1210 » Mon May 14, 2012 1:02 pm

I have Audacity 2.0.0, installed from the .exe file. I run on Windows XP Pro, SP2. I am new to Audacity, and find it to be very well done. As a new user, I find the on-line manual to be great--I wish all programs where this thorough.

I have undocked/resized the meter toolbar, and also made some other toolbar location changes. I cannot find any way to specifically save these changes. The program "appears" to save them when I close it. But after working correctly for a few days, I will open the program and all the toolbar changes will have reverted to their defaults.

Is there a way to save these changes that I have missed, or is there a bug in this release? Any help would be appreciated.

(I checked the FAQ, and did a forum search. The only reference I could find to this problem related to Ver. 1.2.)

I will open the program and all the toolbar changes will have reverted to their defaults.
Do you also get the "Welcome To Audacity" screen? Do all your Preferences Presets revert as well?

I can't 100% answer your question. I 'think' I get the Welcome screen, but I am so used to just clicking to bypass it that I might have missed it.

I can't answer the Preferences either. On Preferences: Libraries I have had to re-point MP3 and FFmpeg to the correct locations, but I don't really remember if those events were in conjunction with the toolbar default problem.

I will pay more attention when it happens again.
