I am able to record from a cassette tape deck and replay is okay. But prior to making a recording I cannot hear audio which makes it difficult to identify an
individual track. I can't find an answer to this in FAQ. As a newcomer to Audacity I'd appreciate any help.

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

A few minutes ago I posted a quert regarding I couls not monitor sound prior recording. Please ignore this.
I have since been going through the control panel and found answer to the problem. I had not clicked start monitor.
As I said I'm a newbie to all this so please excuse myn ignorance.
