trk 1 re-records on overdub

trk 1 re-records on overdub

Hi,
Can't find similar problem, so plz excuse if I missed it. New to Audicity. I can record, but when trying to lay down a second track, first track re-records onto it as well as my input. Vista recording thru Behringer 302 USB, however mixer shouldnt be an issue, TY for any help

That typically happens if you like to record Internet Audio and leave that setting by accident. That will create recursive loop-back sound pathways and lead to your problem.

Regard the Device Toolbar and make sure you're recording from an actual physical Device or Sound Thing like microphone or USB Adapter, and not a made-up device like Mix-Out or Stereo-Mix.

TY, Problem solved. I was looping signal from my headphones back to new track.
