microphone does not work

microphone does not work
the microphone is tested and does work. when my sister tries to record over the microphone, it will not record, will not register on the system at all. she can record with music over the computer, but not specifically from the microphone to the computer. why is this?

If she can record music on the computer but not the microphone, that means you need to change the system to see the microphone. You can do that with the Audacity Device Toolbar.

You do not want WAV-Out, Stereo-Mix, or What-U-Hear. Those are the settings for internet recording.
