I am using Audacity version 2.0.0 with Windows 7 Home Premium (version 6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1) wqith Audacity installed from the file audacity-win-2.0.exe.

My problem is with setting file associations for FLAC files. In earlier versions of Audacity I simply double-clicked the file name in Windows explorer, and the file, which had previously had an audacity icon, and it would open in Audacity. Since installing 2.0.0, FLAC files now have an Adobe reader file association, and no matter how many times I try to change the file association, it reverts to the Adobe Reader one. Can you help with this?

I can open and edit the files using File/Open or File/Import/Audio, but just double clicking was easier.

The problem is due to the way that Windows handles file associations.
If you previously associated audio file types with a version of Audacity 1.3.x then Windows will be unable to associate audio files with Audacity 2.0

Do you still have the old version of Audacity installed? (there's different fixes depending on the answer).

When I got 2.0.0 working, I uninstallede 1.3x.

Uninstall Audacity 2.0
Log into Windows with an Administrative account (not a "limited" or "guest" account)
Download this file: Ensure that Windows is set to show file extensions for all files (see here for instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... extensions )
Remove the ".txt" extension from the downloaded file so that the file name is "AudacityAssociationCleaner.reg"
Double click on the file to run it.
If you are prompted to enter a password, use the Administrative password that you logged in with.
If you are prompted with a question asking if you wish to add the registry settings, say yes.

Re-install Audacity 2.0.

You should now be able to set up file associations with Audacity.
